Adolescents as young as 15 years complain of thinning hair. In such a scenario, it becomes imperative to find some thinning hair remedies to solve a problem that is faced by thousands. The problem is, some of these products may be costly due to the amount of research that has gone into the formula. If you don’t have any allergic reactions to ingredients that can be found at home, you may wish to try out some home remedies before hitting the shelves at retail stores.

  1. Make a mixture of equal amounts of coconut oil and castor oil and heat it. When the oil is warm enough, take that and massage into scalp and hair. Leave on for an hour. Then take a towel, dip it in hot water and cover your head. Repeat this 4-5 times, till the water loses its heat. Then wash off.
  2. Egg Yolk: Raw egg yolk when applied on the scalp and massaged well, proves to be an effective hair fall remedy. Also, as I mentioned earlier, it also proves effective when mixed with henna.
  3. There are many dietary supplements available for hair loss. A good multivitamin and mineral supplement will ensure optimal nutrition. Consider a B-complex to provide B vitamins, which may be missed in your daily diet. Take fish or flax seed oil daily for omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for healthy hair growth. Other supplements for hair health include silica, vitamin C, beta carotene, biotin, folic acid and ginko biloba, which increases circulation to the scalp. “Hair, skin and nail” products combine these supplements to promote healthy hair. Shen Min makes a popular line of products, offering gender-specific ones, as well as a DHT-blocker for extreme hair loss.
  4. Olive oil is probably the most commonly known ingredient. It’s available in almost every household. Olive oil has been known to reduce hair loss and improve the condition of the scalp. Rub a few drops of oil onto the scalp after a hair wash. Notice how the hair starts to shine immediately.
  5. Wash your hair not more than twice a week. But if your hair is very oily and you need to wash it more often, wash it with a very mild shampoo.
  6. Green Coriander: Fresh juice extracted from green coriander leaves should be applied on the hair. This proves beneficial to increase hair growth. Even juice extracted from curry leaves is beneficial to prevent your hair falling out.
  7. One home remedy is to combine 1/2 tsp. rosemary essential oil and 1/2 tsp. jojoba oil, blending until smooth. Apply this to the hair, leave it in for a few hours, then rinse off. Another topical remedy from combines 1 cup aloe vera gel, 4 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp. nettle root, 1/2 tsp. vitamin E oil and 1/2 tsp. rosemary oil, to be applied topically once a day.
  8. Some people like to mix several ingredients together to create their home made hair care solution. Such ingredients may include lemon, mustard seeds, olive oil, and egg yolk. The solution is then used on the hair and scalp for about an hour. If you can’t seem to find the time during the day, you can always apply the solution at night, before you head for bed. Remove the towel in the morning and give the hair a good clean wash before heading for work.

Picture this. After a month long blemish free spell, you wake up one morning to see an ugly, painful pimple growing right on the middle of your nose. The next thing you know, your face is breaking out and pimples are popping up everywhere. It’s ironic how pimples almost always appear at a time when you least need them; weddings, interviews, prom, big dates. You get the picture.

Now before you rush off to your dermatologist for a consultation or to the local chemist to buy expensive products and creams, try opening your fridge door. As unlikely as it may sound, the solution to your pimply problem lies in ordinary household ingredients. There are many effective natural home remedies for pimples that you already have in your kitchen or you can easily obtain from your local food store.

5 Reasons why choosing home remedies for pimples is best

Home remedies are considered among some of the best acne treatments even today. You should choose home remedies for pimples over prescription acne medications and over-the-counter acne products because of the following reasons:

1. No side-effects

Prescription acne medications and over-the-counter acne products can have ugly side-effects, whereas home remedies use natural ingredients and are therefore completely safe to use.

2. Multiple benefits

Apart from being very effective against pimples, home remedies actually improve the rest of your skin because they exfoliate and moisturize your skin naturally. Manufactured products on the other hand, contain chemicals that may even worsen the condition by irritating the skin.

3. Very affordable & easily available

Because of the chronic nature of acne, conventional acne treatments can be very expensive to the point of prohibitive. Repeatedly paying the dermatologist’s fee and restocking acne medication (which rarely works) can be a heavy financial burden on you. Fortunately, home remedies are very affordable and require very little investment because you use products and ingredients that are readily available in your kitchen like lemon, baking soda, honey etc.

4. Safe to explore

Because natural remedies are very safe, you can explore all of them safely to find which one suits you best. Obviously you cannot be so adventurous with medication and chemical products.

5. Allow consistency

Because natural ingredients are readily available, you can treat your acne consistently and whenever you want. For example, a sudden pimple breakout can be treated immediately because everything you need is at your disposal. Maintaining consistency with acne treatment regime involving medication can be very difficult because some times you don’t have the time to rush to the pharmacy, while at other times you may be simply short on cash.

When you combine their effectiveness, availability, affordability and other benefits compared to prescription acne medications or over-the-counter acne products, it becomes very obvious why choosing home remedies for pimples is the wisest decision you will ever make. So don’t hesitate to try them the next time an uninvited pimple pops out!

Many of us will suffer silently when we have a problem with our teeth. Those who are affected more seriously will also want to stay out of the spotlight since they do not want anyone to see what is happening in the mouth region. However, there are some great treatments available these days in the form of a cosmetic dentist who will offer all kinds of cures for those wayward teeth. There is even a sedation dentist who specializes in patients who are literally too scared to come in and get their problems sorted out so suffer in silence.

The problem that most people have is that they probably had a scary experience when they were kids. The sound of the drills and the smell of the clinic is often enough to evoke those sweaty palmed days when we were forced to go along and get a tooth extracted etc. However, times have changed and anyone who is wondering how this has happened should go along and take a look.

Clinics these days are not the austere places or torture that they seemed to be way back when. Indeed, these days, these clinics can have a Zen like feel about the place since the idea is to calm the patient even before the treatment has started. Fish tanks, with a range of beautifully colored specimens floating around, are used to bring peace and tranquility to the prospective patient, but this is not the only trick that the specialist has up his sleeve.

Some people are just terrified of needles. There is no need to wonder why since a needle puncturing any part of the body has to be painful. However, these days, patients can be sedated well before the needle is used. For those patients who just cannot live through the experience of treatment, some specialists have the capabilities of knocking them out completely or to the point when they are not aware of what is gong on, so that the work can be done quickly and effectively.

Of course, it is not just this part that makes these specialists so clever. They have a vast array of treatments at their disposal now so that the client can get exactly what they need at any given time. These days, this specialist will really go out of his way to save even the most corrupt of teeth. There is nothing like having the client being grateful for saving what they thought they would most definitely lose and this is why specialists strive to do all that they can.

If the inevitable happens, and the tooth has to come out, then there are answers here too. Titanium posts are inserted into the jawbone itself and onto this is screwed a fake tooth which looks like the real thing. This addition, added to the veneers which are stuck onto the front of discolored teeth, means that the patient is likely to have an award-winning smile before too long. This must truly be one of the most rewarding professions around today.

Searching for an effective congestive heart failure treatment is something that millions of Americans do regularly. After all, their life may depend on it. Nevertheless, there is no congestive heart failure treatment which can cure the condition, only those that are geared towards management. In this article we will briefly delve into the condition itself and examine a few of the more widely accepted congestive heart failure treatment options.

CHF – The basics

Our heart pump to the tune of about 100,000 beats a day supplying life giving blood and oxygen to our bodies. When CHF occurs the heart is no longer able to meet the body’s need for blood and oxygen and strains to keep up with the demand. This condition can occur at any age, can be brought about by the natural process or aging and/or diseases like atherosclerosis, and is the leading cause of death and disability in the United States.

Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath after only mild exertion, shortness of breath while sleeping, swelling in the legs and/or feet, unexplained weight fluctuation, and swollen neck veins.

Conventional congestive heart failure treatment options

The goal of any CHF treatment is to take some of the pressure off of the heart so it doesn’t have to work as hard. Diuretics may be prescribed in this pursuit to rid the body of excess fluid which has built up due to poor circulation. Prescription cholesterol medications may be prescribed to keep any additional plaque from building up and keep blood flowing freely through the arteries. Beta blockers may be prescribed to slow down heartbeat, lessen the hearts workload, and decrease the risk of irregular heartbeat. There are even drugs known as ACE inhibitors which dilate the blood vessels, reducing arterial resistance, thus taking some of the pressure off of an already overworked heart.

As you can see there are no shortage of options for medical professionals to consider, and we didn’t even get into the surgical possibilities such as balloon angioplasty.

Congestive heart failure treatment options from a natural health perspective

CHF is most often seen in seniors whose heart simply starts to wear out over time. In fact by age 80 the heart will have lost on average about half of its pumping power. It goes without saying that if there are any other extenuating circumstances a rough ride to the hospital emergency room could be in store.

Nevertheless, until that day comes there is a great deal that can be done naturally to hold off this deadly condition starting with lifestyle changes.

Common sense changes such as quitting smoking, only drinking in moderation, reducing sodium intake, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a low fat diet, drinking enough fluids for hydration but not so many as to put pressure on the heart, and daily doctor approved exercise that is appropriate for your level of general health are all excellent suggestions that should be implemented as soon as possible if you feel CHF is present.

PMO strikes balance for medical education regulator

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister’s Office has finetuned the solution of right regulator for medical education. It has been decided that while health ministry’s National Council for Human Resource in Health (NCHRH) will be the sole regulator for medical education — including all degress like MBBS and MD — the human resource development ministry’s National Commission for Higher Education & Research (NCHER) will have a say on medical as well as inter-disciplinary research.

NCHRH will be the sole custodian of MBBS courses throughout the country, including syllabus, quality and number of seats in each institute. A highly placed source in the HRD ministry said, “A solution has been found.”

Former Union health secretary K Sujatha Rao told TOI, “We will set the standards of medical education and regulate the norms just like we do now. However, universities will now have the freedom to innovate and be creative in their teaching and start new diverse courses if they like.”

HRD and health ministries have been told to rework their respective bills on NCHER and NCHRH.

Republicans pitch malpractice reform in MT

HELENA, Mont. – Republicans said Tuesday that proposals to limit medical malpractice claims are among their ideas to lower health care costs as they try to undermine implementation of federal health care reform.

One proposed bill aims to give doctors more protection from lawsuits. Another would limit the amount survivors could seek if a relative died due to medical malpractice.

Critics countered that the proposals would not reduce costs and would only hurt injured patients seeking relief.

The health care debate has been brewing all session with partisan fights over a long list of proposals.

In general, Republicans say they want more free market reforms aimed at lowering costs as an alternative to the federal health care law. Democrats argue that the Republican proposals will do almost nothing to lower costs, and that GOP efforts to undermine federal law could be unconstitutional in some cases and ineffective in others.

The health care debate played out Tuesday in several different places at the Legislature.

In the morning, Republican-backed bills took on the issue of medical malpractice costs.

Many doctors and medical groups supported plans that attempt to give them relief from medical malpractice insurance costs or claims. The doctors said they routinely order unnecessary tests simply out of fear of lawsuits.

Opponents led by trial lawyers argued that the doctors only suffer malpractice claims when something wrong is done. They said doctors have freedom now to order only the tests and procedures they feel are needed, and only engage in defensive medicine out of an irrational fear of being sued.

Republican leaders point to other measures as ways to reduce costs.

One would let consumers buy out-of-state health insurance to increase lower-cost options, a move regulators counter gives Montanans no recourse if the company abandons them.

Other plans aim to encourage cheaper high-deductible insurance plans, and give more tax relief for health expenses.

House Republicans, meanwhile, kept pushing back against the federal health care law.

The House voted down party lines 68-32 to amend the Montana Constitution to say no Montana should be penalized “for exercising the right to choose whether to purchase or participate in health insurance coverage.”

“As Republicans we have a goal that we want patient-driven health care for our constituents. And we want that health care driven by the markets,” said House Majority Leader Tom McGillvray of Billings.

Democrats bristled at the suggestion that Montana can circumvent federal law and the U.S. Constitution simply by changing its own constitution.

“We are sent here to respect the law, not to try and undermine it for political reasons,” said Rep. Pat Noonan, D-Butte.

The proposed change to the state constitution faces little chance of appearing on the ballot for voters. Such proposal need two-thirds support from the Legislature, and Republicans alone don’t have enough votes to get to the 100 votes overall needed after a Senate vote.

Another Republican proposal would ban the state government from setting up the insurance exchanges called for by the federal law. The state insurance commissioner seeking to establish the exchange has argued the federal government will set one up for Montana if the state doesn’t.

Sedona City Council OK’s Medical Marijuana Ordinance

The Sedona City Council became the first Verde Valley community to approve a local Medical Marijuana Ordinance, Feb. 8. While the state initiative was approved by Arizona voters during the last election, local governments are allowed to regulate where the drug may be sold in their communities.

The approved Sedona ordinance allows medical marijuana dispensaries and their associated cultivation sites within the Sedona City limits in the C-1, C-2 and C-3 commercial zoning districts, and only if these facilities are located at least 500 feet from a school, church, park, recreational facility, day care, library or youth center.

Under Proposition 203, the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, which was approved by voters in November of 2010, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has until the end of March 2011 to adopt and enforce a regulatory system for the distribution of marijuana for medical use. The act places an initial limit of approximately 125 nonprofit medical marijuana dispensaries statewide, corresponding to one per every 10 pharmacies. Each county is also allowed at least one dispensary. Based on recent information from ADHS, it is likely that one registration certificate for a medical marijuana dispensary will be issued in the Sedona area this summer.

For more information, see the City of Sedona website at

Other Verde governments are expected to approve similar ordinances. In Cottonwood, the City’s Planning Commission is getting its first look at a proposed zoning ordinance amendment during the Planning and Zoning meeting Monday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. The proposed ordinance amendment establishes performance standards for related uses and eligible zoning districts for dispensaries, according to the department.

As a rule, teenagers or adolescents with depression do not respond to parental attempts to encourage them to think positively. Teenagers and adolescents very often necessitate professional help from a psychologist and therapist to surpass their symptoms. Ruling out a physical disorder, or treating it if one is found, is the first necessary step in helping to relieve your teenager’s feeling of disappointment.

Psychologists today use many diverse approaches to treating depression. For the more severe cases, the most typical outpatient technique is to mix antidepressant medication with psychotherapy. All of these drugs have minor unpleasant side effects, but those for whom the medications bring relief from depression are usually glad to put up with them. Psychotherapy should always accompany pharmacological remedy. As the antidepressant betters the underlying moods, the reasons for the despondency must be explored, maladaptive patterns scanned, and efforts to make essential changes supported.

Psychotherapy by itself works well with teenagers who have mild to moderate depression. Psychologists think that depression takes place from a negative mind set. Treatment focuses on teaching the teenagers to modify their negative view of the world in keeping with reality. The most impelling method in altering the teenager’s thinking is applying cognitive-behavioral techniques.

The teenagers learn how their thinking perpetuates their depression, and the psychologists alter these depression-producing thoughts. The teenagers also master skills to relax and improve their social skills. They become aware of the value of pleasurable activities and inject these into their lives; and they learn how to use these new insights and behaviors in their day-to-day life.

It is hard for anyone who has been frustrated to imagine feeling good again and enjoying the feelings of normalcy. More so, teenagers are far less willing than other age groups to accept the suggestion that they might benefit from psycho-therapy or even consultation from a psychologist. Even when the proof of their problems and unhappiness is unobjectionable, a large proportion will resist seeing a therapist or other mental health professional. These problems should not mean that psycho-therapy should be averted, or once tried that it is doomed. The initiation of psycho-therapy has to be a joint effort by the parent and their teenager working in platform. Such therapy takes time and much patience.

Parents often think over if their children with anxiety will outgrow their anxiety or if they will get worse over time. Some anxious children, if inspired to face their fears, develop contending skills on their own as they mature. In that sense, they do surpass their fears. On the other hand, children with anxiety that avoid their fears can become quite disabled by them. With prolonged aversion of age-appropriate activities, important skills are lost and the children with anxiety become increasingly symbiotic on the few people to whom they relate. Often, family conflicts result due to poor coping skills. With increased family conflict and decreased ability to keep up at school and with peers, their self-esteem plummets.

Fortunately, most children with anxiety can outgrow their fears by gradually facing them. Each time a feared situation is faced, the child becomes a little less responsive to it. After a child is repeatedly exposed to the feared situation and is helped to successfully master his or her anxiety, the fight-or-flight reaction to that situation will dilute.

Over a lifetime, anxiety tends to come and go in those people who are predisposed to it. Exacerbations tend to happen when supports are lost or a new stressor is faced. For example, the expectation for children to behave more self-supportingly at adolescence can be difficult for a sensitive child who has previously relied a great deal on parental support. However, for a child that has learned adjusting skills, this difficulty is not a cause for despair. Instead, it is a signal that previously learned coping skills need to be reviewed, and a few new ones may need to be added. Each time a new situation is mastered, confidence builds, allowing the child to face new challenges and live a productive, fulfilling life.

Deciding on the best method for inducing your child with anxiety to face what is feared may require some thought. As a rule, whatever works and does not harm is best. If your child lacks the skills needed to face what is feared, some training by a psychologist in those skills may be needed before exposing the child to what is feared. For example, a chronically shy child that for years has not talked with companions may lack the social skills to do so. Once the necessary skills have been taught, your child must face what is feared through continuous exposures to it.

You have probably heard the numerous ways to prevent hair loss, and most of these are purchasing products filled with chemicals and man made products that will ultimately harm and possibly damage your hair. While everyone’s hair is different, following simple steps will help prevent hair loss naturally and cost effectively.

1. Purchase an all natural and high quality hair growth product. If you are able to find a good quality organic shampoo and or hair growth product that is the way to go. Organic can be costly, but with all natural ingredients, you are doing your hair a good service.

2. Engage in a healthy, hair growth promoting diet. Your hair is mostly made up of protein and you need to keep high enough amounts of it in what you consume in order to have healthy, full hair and prevent hair loss.

3. One of the most important steps to help your hair is drinking eight to ten glasses of water every day. Your body is made up of 75% water, and if your body is healthy, then your mane will be too.

4. Your hair care products, including styling products may be harming your tresses. Most of these products include chemicals that are not recommended for use on your hair. How you style your mane and many techniques you use may also have an adverse effect on your locks.

5. Your lifestyle may be affecting your growth and even contributing to hair loss. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, or have too much stress in your life, you could be damaging your mane

6. You may not realize it, but if you eat too much sugar, junk food and consume food with excess fat, you are inhibiting your hair growth. Also, if you consume alcohol on a regular basis, this may also affect the growth of your mane

7. Change where you buy your hair care products. Most people buy their hair care products from drugstores and grocery stores, and these mostly contain chemicals such as Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Phosphates, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. These chemicals actually strip your tresses of natural nutrients and dry the follicle.

8. Give your head a massage, thereby increasing blood flow to the scalp and helping to prevent hair loss. Shampoo and condition your hair at least once a day using a good quality shampoo like Mira herbals shampoo.

9. Finally add prenatal vitamins to your diet regime and/or a multivitamin will work wonders.
